Now about me, I’m a heterosexual film student living in Ecuador, pop culture devourer, gamer (in a good way not in a Halo tea bagger way), and fashion enthusiast.

The ’50s ended, I think, when John Kennedy was shot in 1963. That was really the end of a certain kind of innocence, a certain kind of formality. Today with the Internet, there’s not a lot of mystery. There’s not a lot of mystery with sex or with anything, and there’s not a lot of nuance. Because no one has time for nuance.

What is wrong with us? Why do we not value ourselves as artists? Is it so farfetched for us to consider that what we do and experience is art. Ken Levine and Fumito Ueda are the poster boy for “games are art”, but when asked about their opinion on that they always they go for the “I’m not making art, I’m making a product” argument. Why?
I mean, not every game is bound to be art, shovelware is still very much a part of the medium, and the grand majority of fps today remain the same as they were 10 or 15 years ago. But some games stand out, and are not particularly fun, but engaging, and gives as experiences that explores parts of what means to be human. Naysayers may still view as an infantile medium, or not even as a medium but as the stuff of children. Mere toys for children and men who act like them.
